Bravo star Jeff Lewis is opening up about the 2018 cancellation of his series, “Flipping Out.”
During a February 2025 episode of “Real Housewives of Orange County” alum Vicki Gunvalson‘s podcast, “My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast,” Lewis noted that “Flipping Out” was canceled following its 11th season. According to Lewis, the network decided to pull the plug on the series because of his falling out with his former assistant Jenni Pulos.
“I was angry at the time that they did not renew the contract. I didn’t like the reasoning behind it. It wasn’t that there was low ratings, or that people lost interest. It was the Bravo executives felt the show could not go on without Jenni. And I disagreed. And I actually proved them wrong because I went and did another show without Jenni that was very successful,” said Lewis during the interview.
He suggested, however, that he was glad he did not film a 12th season of the show. He said once season 11 wrapped up, his “world kind of collapsed.”
“I mean a lot of things went wrong. My grandmother died, and I went through a lawsuit, the IRS, my ex [Gage Edwards] and I broke up. All kinds of things. I swear everything happened all at once. I don’t know if that would have been the best look for me had we continued,” said Lewis to Gunvalson.
He said he was particularly relieved that cameras did not capture his reaction to his break up with Edwards, whom he shares his 8-year-old daughter, Monroe, with.
“After my 10 year relationship ended, I was spiraling. I was self-destructing. If you thought the old Jeff, 2009 ‘Flipping Out’ was bad — it was bad. And I think in many ways I was saved. It might have been behavior I could have not come back from,” said Lewis.
He clarified that he decided to go to therapy to better his behavior.
“I wanted to be my best self for my daughter,” said Lewis during the interview.
Jeff Lewis Opened up About His Breakup in a November 2024 Interview
Lewis spoke about his breakup from Edwards in a November 2024 interview on “Bachelor” star Nick Viall‘s podcast, “The Viall Files.” According to Lewis, the breakup occurred because his career was his priority.
“I had no balance whatsoever. And that is really, truly the reason, truly, why my long-term relationship failed is because we weren’t investing in the relationship. It was all about chasing work, chasing money,” said Lewis to Viall.
He also said he and Edwards “were always afraid to turn down business,” due to having “a fear of scarcity.”
“When we did that, we took on too much. At the toil of our relationship,” said Lewis.
Jeff Lewis Is Working on Another Show for Bravo
During the “My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast” interview, Lewis noted that he is working on another show for Bravo. He said he was relieved that he did not completely burn bridges with the network after “Flipping Out” ended.
Lewis mentioned his upcoming Bravo series in an October 2024 episode of his radio show, “Jeff Lewis Live.” Lewis said he was “very very excited” to be filming a show with Bravo again.
“My contract is signed. I’m in development with Bravo,” said Lewis on his radio show.
