‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star Planned to Quit Show Ahead of Reboot News

Katie Maloney said she planned to quit  “Vanderpump Rules” ahead of Bravo’s decision to reboot the show with an all-new cast for season 12.

On the December 4 episode of her “Disrespectfully” podcast, the VPR OG revealed that she never intended to return to the show following a volatile season 11 reunion.

“You know — as many other people close to me — I didn’t plan on returning,” Maloney told co-host Dayna Kathan. “Maybe it doesn’t matter at this point. But I had made a decision months ago after this past season, I needed to move on with my life.”

“And this was before we knew the show was gonna be put on pause,” Maloney added. “I talked to producers about it, I felt personally ready to move on from the show. I felt like my life and where I was at was moving in a different direction. Mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, I was prepared. I got to a point where I just don’t know that I can live and grow and be the version of myself I want to be on the show any longer.”

Katie Maloney Only Talked to 2 of Her Co-Stars About the VPR News

Maloney is estranged from several of her former co-stars, including Tom Sandoval and Lala Kent. On her podcast, she noted that continuing the original“Vanderpump Rules” wasn’t feasible with such a broken friend group.

“I understand [Bravo ‘s decision],” she said. “I think the group dynamic, what makes the show that show, would be hard to do because it was so fractured at the end there. And many of us don’t hang out. As far as it being a cohesive unit, it just doesn’t exist anymore,” she said. “So I felt like what made ‘Vanderpump Rules,’ ‘Vanderpump Rules’ … didn’t exist anymore.”

Maloney said she only talked to her ex-husband Tom Schwartz and her business partner Ariana Madix about the “Vanderpump Rules” news.

“I mean, Ariana and I have very, very similar thoughts and feelings,” she said, hinting that Madix also wouldn’t have gone back to the show. “Tom, I don’t want to speak for him. But I think, while he also kind of knew this was coming and all that, he’s still, like, in a [state] of suspended disbelief.”

Ariana Madix Is ‘Relieved’ the News is Out

Madix spoke to Us Weekly about the “Vanderpump Rules” shakeup. The Broadway star told the outlet she was “just relieved that the public finally was privy to the conversations” the cast had been having with producers.

“So, it’s nice that that news is out there. And yeah, now I don’t have to sit here holding that,” she added.

Madix also invited the future “Vanderpump Rules” cast to stop by Something About Her, the sandwich shop she co-owns with Maloney. The shop is just down the street from SUR, Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant that serves as the focal point for “Vanderpump Rules.”

“If any of those kids next door at SUR want to pop into Something About Her and have a sandwich and have a little argument over some Cameron sandwiches and some Avaline wine, we’d love to have them,” Madix said.
