‘Animal’ OTT Release: Fans Disappointed with Missing Kiss Between Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol | – Times of India

Enthusiastic fans have been eagerly anticipating the OTT release of Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s highly successful family crime drama, Animal. Their anticipation is fueled not only by the desire to revisit the theatrical experience but also to catch the ‘extended cut‘ of the film promised by the director. Unfortunately, viewers were left disillusioned as the Netflix India version failed to deliver any additional content.
Fans were promptly disappointed upon checking the runtime on the streaming platform when Animal was released on the OTT platform on Friday. The duration remained at 3 hours and 24 minutes, identical to its theatrical version, leaving viewers hoping for the promised ‘extended cut’ disheartened.

Not only that, when viewers witnessed the climactic showdown on the airstrip between Ranbir Kapoor‘s protagonist Rannvijay and Bobby Deol‘s antagonist Abrar, their disappointment deepened. This was due to the absence of the promised ‘kiss’ between the two actors, as Sandeep had assured the audience following the theatrical release.

In an interview with Galatta Plus, Sandeep shared that there was a planned moment where Bobby was to kiss Ranbir on the cheek, conveying, ‘Bhai, I didn’t even spend one day with my father,’ followed by opening his zip. Although initially shot and considered superb, Sandeep opted to remove the kiss, feeling it diluted the impact of the subsequent emotional moment. He explained that Bobby’s expression with a smirk and a tear rolling down his cheek was a more powerful cinematic choice. Sandeep assured fans that the deleted kiss scene would be part of the extended cut available on OTT.

Numerous users on X (formerly Twitter) voiced their disappointment regarding the absence of the promised extended cut. One user commented, “Animal extended cut is a scam lol. Original runtime 3H23M. Netflix runtime is 3H24M (eyeroll emojis).” Another expressed, “Where is the extended cut version of Animal on Netflix? It was supposed to be a 3h44m runtime, right?”
