Dilip Kumar’s ‘Karma’ Re-release: Subhash Ghai Promises ‘Larger Than Life’ Experience | – Times of India


The 1986 blockbuster ‘Karma,’ directed by filmmaker Subhash Ghai, is scheduled for a re-release in specific PVR and INOX cinemas nationwide starting this Friday. This action thriller boasted an impressive ensemble cast, including Dilip Kumar, Nutan, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Sridevi, Poonam Dhillon, Satyanarayana Kaikala, Anupam Kher, and more.
In the film, Dilip Kumar portrayed the character of a former police officer who proposes an opportunity for a life of honor to three men on death row (played by Naseeruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, and Anil Kapoor) in return for helping him settle a personal vendetta against the leader of a major terrorist organization, portrayed by Anupam Kher. Subhash Ghai expressed his gratitude to PVR INOX for re-releasing his iconic film, Karma, and expressed hope that the newer generation would connect with the movie. He also assured the audience of a “larger-than-life cinematic experience” once again.

In a statement, the filmmaker expressed his eagerness to extend an invitation to the new audience, encouraging them to connect and experience the movie on the big screens for a cinematic experience that is larger-than-life. He highlighted the film’s beautiful depiction of characters within the action-drama genre and emphasized the impactful use of the iconic song ‘Aye Watan Tere Liye,’ which has resonated with millions of hearts.

Ghai added that the film ‘Karma’ was specifically crafted for the big screens during the 80s when audiences preferred larger-than-life experiences over small video screens. He expressed gratitude for the widespread and unconditional love and support received, spanning from north to south, in the effort to revive and bring back the grand cinematic experience associated with the film.
Upon its theatrical release in August 1986, Karma garnered widespread acclaim and love from audiences. The film proved to be a commercial success, earning a substantial Rs 13 crore at the box office.
