When Priyanka Chopra reacted to reports of Shahid Kapoor opening the door at her house during IT department’s raid: ‘We’re laughing but it’s CHEAP’ | – Times of India

Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor were rumoured to be dating each other, though, they have never admitted to it publicly. Things were blown out of proportion when a newspaper once published a story saying that when the Income Tax department raided Priyanka Chopra’s house one morning, it was Shahid Kapoor who opened the door and he was at her house.
However, Priyanka had reacted to these reports like a boss lady. She told Rajat Sharma on ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ when he asked her about it, “Jis newspaper ne yeh likha tha shayad woh IT department ke saath mere ghar pe aaye honge, unhone dekha hoga ke kisne darwaaza khola. Hum log abhi has rahe hai, mazaak kar rahe hai par yeh bohot cheap baat hai. Joh bhi ladkiyan yahan baithi hongi, woh samajh sakti hai ke main kaisa feel kar rahi hoon. Yeh galat hai. Agar aapke paas naa toh koi proof hai aur na toh kabhi aisa hua hai. Aap kisi newspaper ke frontpage pe yeh headline banaa rahe hai, iss baat ko bhulkar ke aap kisi ladki ke baare mein baat kar rahe hai joh apne parents ke saath rehti hai aur main bhi kisi ki beti hoon, kisi ki behen hoon aur aap itni cheap news aur woh bhi jis tarah se pesh ki gayi, aap likh rahe hai. (We are laughing about it now but it’s really cheap to publish such a thing and women here will understand what I’m feeling. People forget that they’re writing about a girl who lives with her parents and I’m also someone’s daughter and sister.”
She further clarified how Shahid was present at her house. “Jee haan. Shahid mera neighbour hai aur woh mere ghar se teen minute door rehta hai. I didn’t know who else to call. Jisko bhi main phone karti, woh atleast 20-25 minute lagaata toh maine Shahid ko phone kiya and very kindly, the income tax deparment let him stay. Iss baat ko na toh maine kabhi deny kiya hai aur na kabhi jhutlaya hai. So, abhi toh hum has rahe hai iss baat pe yeh bhulke ke meri bhi izzat hai aur main bhi ladki hoon. So, I didn’t take this very kindly. (Shahid is my neighbour who stays 3minutes away from my houe. I didn’t know who else to call as anyone would take 20-25 minutes to come, hence I called Shahid and the IT deparment very kindly let him stay. I have never really denied it. Right now, we are laughing about it and taking it as a joke, forgetting the fact that I’m a woman and I have dignity too).

Priyanka and Shahid were neighbours and the duo also worked together in ‘Kaminey’ and ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’.
