According to Deadline, it was officially confirmed that the new season will debut on June 17.
Set 200 years prior to the events of ‘Game of Thrones‘, the ‘House Of The Dragon’ sequel, adapted from George R.R. Martin‘s Fire & Blood novels, will not feature any time-jumps like Season 1.The first season included a significant 10-year leap between episodes, however, showrunner Ryan Condal confirmed in a recent interview that season 2 will unfold without such narrative leaps.Condal reassured fans, stating, “As a reward to our wonderful audience for following us through all the time jumps and recasts, they are done. We tell the story in real-time from here forward. The actors are playing these characters until the end.”
HBO has announced that the upcoming season will consist of eight episodes, two fewer than its first season.
Despite challenges such as the writers’ strike in the US, production for season two commenced in May of 2023, with filming taking place in the UK. Insiders revealed to Variety that the series’ scripts were finalized well in advance, ensuring that production remained unaffected by the strikes.
The cast of ‘House Of The Dragon’ will see several familiar faces returning to the series like Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans. Several other characters will be portrayed by talents such as Gayle Rankin, Simon Russell Beale, Freddie Fox, and Abubakar Salim.
The first season of the Game Of Thrones prequel premiered on August 21, 2022. Drawing in a staggering 10 million viewers for its inaugural episode, the series swiftly secured a renewal for its second season within weeks of its premiere.
Last month, the makers dropped two trailers #TeamBlack and #TeamGreen, splitting the fandom, much like the Targaryen bloodline in the epic tale.
