Nora Fatehi‘s latest comment on ‘feminism’ and its impact on society made waves on social media for the past few days. Now, actors Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Shriya Pilgaonkar have reacted to the statement by adding their own views about the idea of feminism.
In an interview with Janice Sequeira, the trio shared how feminism caters to equal rights for both genders and how it is not a ‘male-bashing’ concept.The actors were promoting their upcoming web series ‘The Broken News Season 2,’ where they addressed the ongoing discussion.
Shriya stated that people do not google the definition of feminism. It is all about equal rights, not about one-upmanship. She believes that a lot of people are feminists without even knowing they are, but they somehow don’t call themselves by that name because they think feminism is ‘male-bashing.’ Jaideep also agreed with Shriya’s statement.

Actress Sonali added that the definition of feminism has taken on a connotation of ‘male-bashing,’ which is uncomfortable for many. Everyone is looking for equal rights, not for superiority. That imbalance makes you wish for a balanced society, which causes problems when the scales are not balancing each other.
Directed by Vinay Vaikul, ‘The Broken News 2’ is a narrative about the interlink between politicians and media and how elections get influenced by these factors. The show also features Indraneil Sengupta, Taaruk Raina, Faisal Rashid, and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya. It will be out on OTT on May 3.
