‘Laal Singh Chaddha‘, the official Hindi adaptation of ‘Forrest Gump‘, was a dream come true for Aamir Khan. However, its unexpected failure left him feeling hurt. During a candid admission on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, the actor acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the film, which also features Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Aamir took the blame for the movie’s failure and shared how it affected him emotionally.He said, “I was heartbroken because we all worked hard on the film.” He acknowledged that something might have been lacking, leading to the audience’s dissatisfaction.
He admitted, “I took my performance to a high pitch and couldn’t maintain it throughout the film. It was my mistake as an actor, and I won’t do it again in my next film. I’ve learnt more from mistakes than successes throughout my career.”
Earlier this year, Aamir talked about how the film didn’t get the response he hoped for during his speech at the ABP Ideas of India Summit 3.0. He said that it is a film close to his heart. Advait, Kareena and the whole cast and crew worked hard and it didn’t do well.
The actor further revealed that after a long time, his film didn’t work, and family and friends would come home to ask me, ‘If I’m okay?’ He realised that he was getting a lot of love after a flop. That was the funny side of it. The real side is, that failure teaches what has gone wrong. It allows someone to understand what was the mistake in terms of communicating that story.
