Actress Janhvi Kapoor recently shared her admiration for Kiran Rao‘s latest directorial work, ‘Laapataa Ladies, via her Instagram account. The film premiered in theaters on March 1, 2024, followed by its release on OTT on April 26. It has received praise for its engaging storyline and outstanding performances.
In her Instagram story, Janhvi lauded the performances of the cast, including Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Ravi Kishan, highlighting their individual strengths and contributions to the film.She commended Kiran Rao for crafting a “beautiful work of art” and described the movie as “special” due to its captivating narrative and standout performances.

“Laapataa Ladies” is an adaptation of Biplab Goswami’s acclaimed novel and transports viewers to rural India in 2001. The story unfolds as two brides are accidentally exchanged during a train journey, setting off a series of twists and turns as their husbands embark on a quest to find the real bride.

With ‘Laapataa Ladies’ Kiran Rao’s made her directorial comeback. Before this movie, she made ‘Dhobi Ghat,’ which came out in 2011. The movie left an impact on a global scale as it got a standing ovation at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Now coming back to Janhvi, the actress who left her impact on the audience right after her debut movie ‘Dhadak,’ as of now is gearing up for the release of her upcoming movie ‘Mr. and Mrs. Mahi,’ which has been directed by Sharan Sharma. Slated to make it to the big screens on May 31, 2024, the movie stars Rajkummar Rao opposite Janhvi. This film marks their second collaboration post the horror comedy-drama ‘Roohi’. Also, let’s not forget to mention that Janhvi has given her sweat and blood for this character. Her dedication to the role of Mahima included six months of rigorous training to accurately portray a cricketer.
