Jelena Rozga (born 23 August 1977) is a Croatian pop, folk and electropop singer. Born and raised in Split, Rozga started performing as a ballet dancer as a child. She rose to fame in 1996, as the lead singer of Magazin, a prominent Croatian pop band. She served as the band’s lead singer until 2006, releasing five studio albums with them.
Jelena Rozga, one of the biggest music stars in the entire region, danced ballet as a child. After primary school, she enrolled in high school ballet and began dancing in the ballet of the Croatian National Theater. She performed in Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker. She left her ballet career when the opportunity arose to become a singer of the popular Split band Magazin, which she dreamed of as a child.
Jelena began her musical career in 1996, when she performed the song “Aha” on Dora, and won second place. In the same year, Jelena became the singer of the band “Magazin” and remained in the group for ten years. In 2006, she left behind a huge number of mega hits and left the Magazin, but continued to collaborate with Tonči Huljić. She soon released his solo album “Oprosti mala ‘i sina” in 2010, when she won the Grand Prix for the third time in a row at this largest Croatian festival.
One of the milestones of her career is certainly the mega hit ‘Bijouterie’ with which she started her first big tour of the same name, and became the first woman to sell out Split’s Spaladium arena on February 11, 2011.
A few months later, Zagreb’s Cibona only confirms Jelena’s success. Under the auspices of these hits, in 2011 she released her second solo album “Bijouterie”, which sold more than 15,000 copies in just one month, and Jelena won the “Golden Plate” for it. That same year, she was nominated for the “Porin” award, which she received in the Hit of the Year category for the song “Bijouterie”.
In 2011, she performed at the “Split Festival” with the song “Spoiled”, which won first place according to the votes of the audience and secured another Grand Prix for Jelena Rozga.At the end of 2011, she released her first double ‘Best of Jelena Rozga’, which contains the biggest hits of her solo career, but also hits while she sang in the Magazine (1996-2006).
She performed at the “Split Festival” and in 2012 with the song “Solo igračica”, at the same time she released the song “Dobitna kombinacija” and was the first in Croatia and neighboring countries to record a video in which she combined her two hits – Solo Igračica and Dobitna Kombinacija. He then released the song “Nirvana” which in record time became a big hit in the entire region, and at the end of 2013 he released the beautiful ballad “Circus”. During March 2014, she recorded the song “Taste of Menthol” which also became a hit. She also recorded the soundtrack for the new series of Nova TV Kud puklo da puklo “Odo ‘ja”.
At the end of 2014, the single “Tsunami” was released, and it became a hit in a very short time. It was viewed 400,000 times in the first 24 hours, which is a record number for this singer, and so far it has garnered more than 22 million views.
The tsunami ravaged, and after that it ravaged “The Queen”, a hit of the summer of 2015. That year was also marked by Jelena’s collaboration with the cosmetics giant L’Oreal, for which Jelena shot a commercial for a blonde hair shade in Prague, which is broadcast in more than 10 countries. Jelena has taken firm steps into the world of business.
