Though rooted in R&B and hip-hop, Alina Pash’s musical style is not, by any means, a regurgitation of a Western norms. Instead, it’s a smorgasbord that gives the feeling of something new.
Alina Ivanivna Pash was born on May 6, 1993, in the village of Bushtyno, Zakarpattia, Ukraine and is a Ukrainian singer, rapper, finalist of the sixth season of the vocal show “X-Factor”.
Early years
She studied at Bushtyn Secondary School and Art School, she also had private vocal lessons in Uzhhorod. From the age of 13 she took part in vocal festivals: “Young Galicia”, “Christmas Star”, “Bukovinian Star”, “Children’s Eurostar”, “Rainbow over the Tisza”, “Crystal Clusters”, “Crimean Waves”, etc.In the 11th grade, she took part in the program “Karaoke on the Square”.
In 2012 she auditioned for the girl band “Real O”, later worked with the band “Hot Chocolate”, on the backing vocals of the band “SKY” and singer Irina Bilyk.In 2013 she worked with the cover band “Chillout” ,later with DJ Natalie Lorient ,and “Elton Clapto” The first author’s song written for the singer was “Lullaby”, a video for which was shot by Volodymyr Tverdokhlib.
On September 18, she released her second single, Oinagori, and a music video for it. The video for the track was shot in Marseille, France, with a local team, directed by Lou Escobar and Nathan Daisy.
In November, the singer joined the work on the song “Robot” by the group “TNMK”, which was included in the album “7”, the same month released the album “Full Paragraph” by Johnny Strange, where she also participated in the recording of the track “Word Game” ».
January 13, 2019 – the hip-hop carol “Good evening” with the participation of Alina was released. The author of the idea was the rapper Yarmak, Jamal, Laud, Mr. were invited to film. Makoundi and members of the nomadic band Den Da Funk and Fame. That same month, Pash spoke at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
On May 24, a new ethno-style album, Pintea: Gory, was released. On June 14, the world saw the second part of an album called “Pintea: Misto”, recorded in electronic and hip-hop style. According to the singer herself, she dedicated the first part of the album to her native Carpathian village, and the second to Kyiv. In July, she performed at the Atlas Weekend festival. On August 24, she performed at a parade in honor of Ukraine’s Independence Day, singing rap while performing the anthem.
On September 10, the music video for the song “First Lady”, recorded with Pianoboy, premiered.
Listening to the tracks, which are produced by Suren Tomasyan (A Kiev-based Armenian who has an awesome project of his own called mama13), we get a sense of it her eclectic taste. Hearing the artist speak with press we get a deeper sense of her openness to her diverse heritage that led to this. Speaking with Don’t Take Fake, Pash implies due to her hometown in Transcarpthia (in the West of Ukraine) changing hands throughout history – there’s Roma, Hungarian, Russian, German, Polish as well as Ukrainian culture – it’s left a nuance on her art. Living now in Kiev, Pash is among the most well-recognised left-field artists with mainstream crossover appeal in the country.
