Taylor Swift Surprises Fans on her 35th Birthday

Today, Taylor Swift can really “act like it’s [her] birthday,” as the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer turns 35. Born on Dec. 13, 1989, Swift surprised fans with a gift: a new archival website known as #TSErasArchives.

The announcement came from her management’s Instagram account, @taylornation. They posted the following caption, along with an Instagram reel:

“It’s our favorite person’s birthday. 🫶 Celebrate Taylor’s eras on the brand new #TSErasArchives site and go behind the scenes for some of your favorite music videos now! 🤍 taylor.lnk.to/tserasarchive“

On the archive site, fans can watch newly released behind-the-scenes footage from several of Swift’s music videos including “Fortnight,” “I Can See You,” ” Anti-Hero,” “Cardigan,” and “Bejeweled.” The archive site also highlights each one of Swift’s 11 albums with a separate page. Fans will find album-specific items including merch, past tour dates, music, videos, award highlights, and photos from the Eras Tour. Swift’s latest album “The Tortured Poets Department,” referred to by fans as “TPD” or “TS11,” was released on April 19, 2024.

Swift’s birthday surprise comes a day after her visit to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Soon after she arrived at the hospital on Thursday, Dec. 12, photos and videos of Swift started circulating on social media.

Photos show her signing books for the kids in the hospital and posing with Jellybean the service dog. Children’s Mercy has a Facility Dog Program that according to their website, provides “comfort, motivation and smiles” to families and patients.

In one video, Swift appears from behind a curtain and lipsynchs to her song “Bad Blood.” Text overlays the video and reads “Boy ain’t no way I js woke up and tripped out with Taylor Swift 🤪💋.”

She is also seen interacting with adults in the hallway as they wish her a happy birthday, one day early.

Taylor Swift Becomes Winningest Billboard Award Recipient of All Time

While Taylor was busy visiting Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City on Thursday, Dec. 12, another big event happened: The 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) aired on FOX, Paramount+, and Amazon’s Fire TV.

Hosted by Actress and Comedian Michelle Buteau, this award show was big for Swift. While she wasn’t physically at the award show, she did appear via a pre-taped video to accept her trophies. Swift won 10 awards: Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Hot 100 Songwriter, Top Streaming, Songs Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Billboard Global 200 Artist, Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Album (“The Tortured Poets Department”). With these wins, Swift is the winningest Billboard award recipient of all time. Swift now holds 49 awards, surpassing Drake, who holds 42 BBMA trophies.
