As the series “Yellowstone” fast draws to a close, fans can take consolation that there will be a spinoff starring the popular characters of Beth Dutton and her husband, Rip Wheeler.
The news was confirmed by Variety, which cited sources close to the production. Kelly Reilly will reprise her character of Beth, and Cole Hauser will continue to play Rip, according to Variety.
The final episode of “Yellowstone” airs on December 15. The final episodes have shown Beth struggling to deal with the death of her father, played by Kevin Costner, and her belief that her brother, Jamie, was behind it.
The series also set up the spinoff by showing Rip and other cowboys traveling to a new ranch in Texas, which Beth then visits.

According to Variety, it’s also possible that Beth and Rip could appear in a 6th season of “Yellowstone,” although the publication reported that it’s more likely they will be in a spinoff that still has the word “Yellowstone” in its name.
Calling the season a spinoff means that Paramount could “keep it within its own streaming ecosystem,” Variety reported, without having to steam it on Peacock like the original.
In late August, Variety had reported that Hauser and Reilly might star in a sixth season of the show.

Deadline also reported that a spinoff starring Beth and Rip has been confirmed.
According to Deadline, the spinoff will occur in the present-day time frame being showcased in season 5.
There’s a lot to work with after season 5, including Beth’s attempt to come to terms with the death of her dad, her brother’s treachery, and challenges to the “Yellowstone” ranch. Rip, of course, first showed up at the ranch as a boy, and Rip and Beth have both taken in a teenager whose storyline could continue.
Taylor Sheridan, who created “Yellowstone,” is also working on the spinoff, according to Deadline.
It’s not clear which other “Yellowstone” characters will follow Rip and Beth to the spinoff, but the show has already positioned several of them for potential roles as they were shown working in Texas on aranch there during season 5.
“Yellowstone” has also spawned prequels, which are following the history of the Dutton family and explaining why the Montana land is so important to them.
