E. Gayathri
Echampati Gayathri (née Gayathri Vasantha Shoba), prominently known as “Veena Gayathri”(born 9 November 1959) is a veenaexponent of the conventional Carnatic music. She was named by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J.Jayalalithaa, as the primary Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University in November, 2013.
E.Gayathri got the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2002, the “Kalaimamani” grant from Dr. M. G. R. for the benefit of the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1984 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rotary Club, Madras East in 2011. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J. Jayalalithaa, designated E. Gayathri as Honorary Director of Tamil Nadu Government Music Colleges in Chennai, Thiruvaiyaru, Madurai and Coimbatore in 2011. E.Gayathri has been respected with a Doctorate by the World Tamil University in the year 2017.
Career
E. Gayathri was brought into the world on 9 November 1959 to Kamala Aswathama, a veena vidushi, and to G. Aswathama, a movie music chief in the Telugu entertainment world. Her dad named her Gayathri Vasantha Shoba. Gayathri originally prepared under her folks and later under Sangita Kalanidhi T. M. Thyagarajan, a Carnatic singer and writer.
Gayathri started her profession at 9 years old when Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, Triplicane welcomed her to act in their Saint Thyagaraja Festival in 1968. Gayathri proceeded to get grants and titles from associations in India and abroad. Gayathri has delivered numerous collections. She was named as Honorary Director of Tamil Nadu Government Music Colleges (in Chennai, Thiruvaiyaru, Madurai and Coimbatore) by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J. Jayalalithaa, in 2011. E.Gayathri has been regarded with Doctorate by the World Tamil University in the year 2017.
Aside from these, she has likewise given exhibitions abroad, in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Singapore and Malaysia to give some examples. She was additionally one of the some notable artistes of India to have been highlighted in author A.R. Rahman’s Jana Gana Mana song of praise track.
