Sarah McCreanor : “Astrid” from ‘How To Train Your Dragon’

Sarah McCreanor is an Australian actress, dancer and photographer based in Los Angeles.

Sarah McCreanor, known professionally as Smac, is an Australian actress, dancer, comedian, choreographer and photographer based in Los Angeles, most recently known for her comedic dancing on America’s So You Think You Can Dance season 16. 

In 2013 she claimed her first international role in the touring production of Dreamworks How To Train Your Dragon as the lead role “Astrid”, featuring acrobatic stunts and dance. The world tour wrapped in Los Angeles which lead to an overnight decision to stay long term.

Smac’s creative endeavors began at 5yrs old with dance and drama classes. In her hometown of Brisbane she performed in dance, musical theatre, theatre and circus productions, competed in national comedy competitions, produced and performed theatre shows at festivals, acted in short films and tv commercials and showcased mixed media in gallery showings. 

Insert a good amount of years dedicated to competition dance and schoolwork, Sarah then switched her studies to Theatre Arts and Visual Arts in the International Baccalaureate program at the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries and later continuing her study at the Queensland University of Technology majoring in Fine Arts, Visual Art.

At this time she formed the comedy duo ‘Mitch & Max’ with friend Alexandra Mitchell. The duo entered the MICF Class Clowns competition with their musical slapstick routine making the finals representing Queensland. In 2009 Sarah wrote, directed and performed her first full length theatrical comedy (as Mitch & Max) titled ‘LostInSpace.com’, which featured at the 2High Arts Festival. Mitch & Max later performed children’s comedy at the Out Of The Box Festival in 2010, where Smac also hosted the opening ceremony. 

2007-2011 Smac was the featured soloist dancer in the Creative Generations State Schools Spectacular, co-choreographer and member of Velocity Dance Crew and cast in Harvest Rain Theatre Company’s productions of High School Musical, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar and Grease (QLD performing arts centre)

Smac’s versatility has landed her numerous accomplishments in L.A thus far including Guest Starring roles on the series “Liza on Demand,” CBS’s “Why Women Kill” and on AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead,” in addition to booking over 30 commercials. Smac has also been featured as a dancer in music videos and dance projects, co-directed and performed comedy sketch/improv shows at Second City Hollywood. Smac has a green card to work in the United States and an Australian passport. 

Sarah is also a published photographer and enjoys shooting fashion portraiture.
